Coca-Cola and cross stitching

This is a cross stitch that I did for one of my best friends. She loves coke stuff so when I found this pattern I HAD to do it! It took me about 8 months to complete in between school, work and being sick. I was so happy when it was done. The frame is 12x12 and the cross stitch is between 2 1/2 to 3 inches smaller than the frame. I just wanted you guys to see it!

Spring has sprung!!!

That is my Roxy and as you can see all the green grass hasn't came in yet but it is working on it. The down side to spring for Roxy is the green grass. She is allergic to is and she has started breaking out on her belly again. She got her rabies shot today and she weighs 84.5 lbs. We are going to switch her to adult dog food even though she isn't 2 years yet. She needs to lose about 9 lbs. the vet said. I am okay with that and the adult dog food will help with the lower calories. She isn't fat, she just needs to lose that puppy fat! She will be wonderful in a couple weeks I am sure. We are outside some much that she is running a ton more!!!

"The Girls" and what us girls do for them!!!

I know that this may be a weird post for the guys out there reading this but they need to know what is going on and understand the information too. I posted about why breast health was such a big issue to me in October of last year. You may want to check it out and see the back story to this and it will be a little clearer.

Most of us girls know that we have breasts and they are there, can get in the way but don't think much otherwise about them. I am one who is thinking about them constantly. Some of us want bigger, some want smaller, some just think they get in the way and others love them and show thier "assets" off all the time! All of us girls have "the girls" and they are dealt with on a daily basis - whether we like it or not! OK, now on with today's stuff.....

Today I went for a six month check up with Dr. LaNette Smith in Tulsa. She is a breast doctor and in September they did ultrasound in her office after the exam and then sent me over to the radiology where they did a mammogram and more ultrasounds... Everything looked okay and she wants to see me every six months. Today she brought up that she really wanted me to do genetic testing since I have lost my mother, grandmother and an aunt who have had breast cancer and they were all on my mom's side. The is also wanting me to have an MRI done. She said that the digital mammogram was OK but an MRI would really let them see more and see better. They are going to check with the insurance on the MRI and I am trying to decide on the testing. They have passed a law that insurance companies can't deny me coverage because of the genetic testing but I am still worried about it.

I also started asking her about prophylactic mastectomy's. How often did they do them, the success rate and all that stuff. She said that if I am shown to have the BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene that the likelihood of breast cancer raises from 10% to 85%. If a prophylactic mastectomy is done the risk is lowered by 90% which is approximately the same for someone without a family history. So we are looking at all the options and looking at what we think is best to do. The MRI will be the first hurdle and seeing if we can get the insurance to cover it. I am double covered so hopefully they will both agree and I can get it done! So once we clear the first hurdle we will look at the next one!!!

Has anyone out there had this issue come up, had the testing done or heard anything else about it? I would love some more input from others on this subject!

And also I went yesterday to the doctor and I have lost 14 pounds!!! This is also one of the things that I am doing to lower my risk as well as exercising more and cutting down on the fat.... Not fun but needed! So I am hoping to continue losing this next month!!! I will keep you updated!

Bows, ears, meds, and life in general

So first off, I was suffering with the ear pressure and the itching. Monday night I started taking Benedryl and Sudafed and it did something. My ears weren't hurting anymore, My whole face was now. I knew then that it was something with my sinuses. So I decided I would give it a couple of days to work its way up and if it hadn't towards the end of the week I was going to the doctor. I was feeling like my head was going to explode and my teeth were killing me. So Thursday I gave in and went to the Express Care that opened up this last week. The PA that I was talking about in the last post is there so it wasn't like I was going somewhere that no one knew me. I walked in at the Express Care and left at 3:30. I was figuring that I knew what it was and I was right. I got the whole thing of "you should have came in sooner", "I know that you must have been hurting" and all that normal stuff. The next thing that came out of her mouth was " you have a severe sinus infection so instead of 10 days of antibiotics I am putting you on 15 days worth. Instead of taking them twice a day you need to take them every 8 hours. You are going to take Flonase twice a day as well as Mucinex twice a day." I guess when I do it I do it good!!! So I am feeling better, still sleeping sitting up because of the drainage but my face doesn't feel like it is going to explode!!!

So in other good news Matt got the "boatport" done. This is an area to park the boat. That was its total purpose. Something that you park a car under is called..... a carport. So something that we park our boat under is.......a boatport! I am working on making him a sign to hang up, he just doesn't know it yet! I have the wood so I need some paint, hooks and some chain!

And to keep the good new coming, we got our bows last weekend!!!! Matt got a Hoyt AlphaMax 32 and I got a Diamond Razor Edge by Bowtek. We are both extremely happy and excited to get them. The only down side of this is that the dealer has been waiting on a shipment of arrows and hasn't got them yet. Matt will be shooting 400s and I will be shooting 500s. His will be wrapped with the American flag and has two red feathers and one white feather. Mine will be wrapped with pink flames and have two pink zebra print vanes and one white zebra print vane. I didn't realize that Ted Nugent and I have so much in common and like to accessorize the same!!!

Matt and Phil have their first tournament in a couple weeks so I will officially have Saturdays to myself and Sundays will be my day on the lake! Yeah!!! I am excited. Most people don't understand how I am so excited about having him gone on Saturdays but that is my time. I will get to stitch and finish some projects, get some reading done and also get some homework done. Also I am trying to get some large tests that I have to take for school done so I will be taking those. I have to pass one of these in order to be admitted into the teaching program and the other two have to be passed in order to graduate. So I figure that I can get started!

And lastly, I have lost about 10 pounds so far. It is coming off slowly and in good increments so I am happy right now with it!

I hope that this weekend is nice and we can shoot our arrows, as long as they come in!!! That would make this weekend PERFECT!!!!

No Bow...

We checked and everything wasn't in on the bows yet so we didn't get them. But I did get my Smith & Wesson M&P compact 9 mm.... It is gorgeous! So this weekend I basically cleaned and spent time scratching my ears. Yess you heard that right. Down in my ear is itching and just about to drive me crazy. I called the doctor today after trying some at home stuff and having severe pressure in my ears, and the referred me to my primary care physician. The problem is that he is that also. He had a PA in the office so I could just see her but she left so I am back to square one.... I am now waiting for a phone call back to see if I am going to have to go to the PA who is with another doctor or if they will take me.... I just don't want to be sick..... So I am sitting here at work, popping my ears to relieve the pressure and wondering what to do. I have to drive to school tonight, which will suck, but what about the rest of the week!!!
