"Her name is YaYa... I lub her"

I have a two and a half year old brother-in-law, B. He is a doll and I have always been a sucker for those eyes. I held him right after he was born and he has had me wrapped around his little finger. I got a text from him mom tonight that made me smile.

"B was telling me about his girlfriend and he loves her. I asked him
what his girlfriends name was... He said "yaya...I lub her.""

Is that not precious. Of course I sent one back that says that I "lub" him too. And the next text that came back was " of course he has been running a fever for two days so he could be delirious". Nice huh! But I love the fact that he loves me that much! Both of these kids are amazing and I do "LUB" them so much.

L couldn't say me name so I became known as YaYa and absolutely love it! Do you have any cute stories about little ones or funny nicknames that they call you? Tell me about it!

Questions that don't really have answers...

I thought that I might make your day and get ya'll to thinking. The are some questions that don't have a real answer to them. But your mind will get to workin'!

Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change?
They're going to see you naked anyway.
Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?
They're both dogs!

If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Hope you have a great Thursday!!!

On May 10, 2008 we were pumped to go to the Monster Trucks that were coming to our hometown and on that night we got around and started getting ready. When we got into the truck the neighbors cows were right up behind the house. And by right behind I am talking that all 100 head were pushing into the corner of the pasture and you could see the strain that was being put on the barbed wire. We took mental note, talked about how that meant that bad weather was normally coming and went on with our plans for the night. That bit of information was tucked into my mind for later use - little did I know.

We have quite a few friends who drive tuff trucks and one who drives a monster truck so we wanted to get there early and see everyone before the action got started. We get there and pull into the pit and park the truck and get out and like any true redneck, find the beer tent. We were over shooting the breeze with some of the people we know and look around in the sky and west was jet black and the other directions it was bright and shining. We mentioned it and never really thought about it. We live in Oklahoma where the weather changes every five minutes. Then all of a sudden the wind picked up and started blowing things over. The beer tent was grabbed by about 10 of us and it took all that we had to hold it down. The port-a-potties fell over one by one like domino's. Dirt and hats were flying everywhere and as suddenly as it had started, it stopped. This odd still comes over everything and then you start hearing the radios go off. To the west they were watching a tornado and we kept hearing them call out its every move. It missed up but it had moved on to Picher.

We had friend who lived near there and kept trying to call them but were unable to get through. I felt so helpless and although I finally got a hold of our friends I still felt like I should be able to do something else. I know simple first aid and CPR but realized quickly that this was going to take more than that. I was told that by staying put and not clogging up the road I would be doing more good, emergency personnel needed to get in immediately. I sat in the truck, listening to the radio coverage and wondering about everyone who was there. There were lots of prayers going up for those who were affected by this tragedy.

In all of the chaos there were so many different numbers going around about how many had lost their lives but the number ended up being significantly lower. But there were whole town and counties devastated by the damage that was done. Seven lost their lives that tragic day. New stations were flocking to cover the damage but News On 6 did a good job of covering the whole event. Click on the link to read more.

One year later we were all thinking of those who went through this and there was a local news crew who was covering the year anniversary. The wind picked up and the sky was green. I started worrying when the wind picked up and was blowing branches and other objects against the side of the house. Matt was heading into town and as it picked up he was going over an interstate bridge. It picked his truck up and floated him to the other side of the road. It blew over with no damage in our town but in a local town the tower for the TV station had been blown over. It was the news station that was covering the anniversary. They had gone off the air 8 minutes before and luckily there was no one inside the building. The tower crashed onto the new station and a house next door. Luckily no one was injured. The news station was off the air for a few months repairing the tower and the building. But just like every other situation, we bounced back and are going strong.
But one has to wonder what May 2010 might bring for us.... Lets hope that it is nothing like the previous two years...

February 3rd Blogroll Amnesty Day

February 3rd is Blogroll Amnesty Day. Basically you post 5 links to little known blogs that could use some bloggy-love. I found this through the grapevine and it seems easy enough to participate. So here we go, I encourage you all to do a simple post doing the same. Especially those with hundred's of reader - pass them around everyone!

Kerri over at I'm Just Sayin' is a new wife, new mom and just one heck of a gal! She is the one who I got this from so go over, look her blog over and leave her some love!

Simply Simonsons is one of my favs because she is a coupon clipper and a great mom. She has a sense of humor. You never know what will come out of her mouth and that is great!

Campbell Party of 3 is a family that I have known forever and she is a super strong woman. They have dealt with infertility, adoption and just life issues. Check her out, she loves giveaways and is a great read.

Bre is my southern girl at Life and Love of a Parrot Head. She is a miniature schnauzer lover (like myself), loves to cook (like myself) and will try just about anything one (like myself). She also has a food blog and won't disappoint on either one.

Tasha at Tasha Does Tulsa is a hoot to read and knows all the stuff that is going on. She is an Okie and knows what is going on around town.

Go and give these bloggers some love NOW. 'Cause I said so!
I am getting deep into school and it is stressing me. But I will persevere. I will make it through. I have been doing homework and watching the weather in Oklahoma. It is snowing one day, sunny the next, ice and freezing rain the next and then sun again for a couple of days. Tomorrow is one of the days that we are supposed to get rain and snow. It is making us one muddy mess. My car looks like it has been off-roading, when all I have been doing is driving down a dirt road!

I got my hubby's valentines day gift. I found 4 plastic (but BPA free) bottles that held 32 ounces for $19. So I got a set for myself too! They have straws and not screw-off lids so we will see which I like better.

Taxes are done and school helped us out quite a bit this year. I am still not understanding how they felt the "stimulus" that they gave us through not taking out as much federal tax is going to help us. We withheld extra, knowing what was coming and I am so glad that we did. Talking to the CPA yesterday we discussed the very upset people that found out they owed instead of getting money back like they normally do. I guess it stimulated their pocket for a little bit but now they are back in the same place they started out - having no money. But the government will gladly take the interest and penalties that they have caused the public....

Okay, I am off my soap box now! Hope that you have a great day and that all is well with your family!!!

Snow storm January 2010

Living here in Oklahoma we know that the weather can change every five minutes. And we are used to it changing every five minutes. But waiting on the weather is something that we aren't used to at all. So when it said that we were going to get sleet, snow and ice in large proportions we were ready. We had already gone and stocked up on all the essentials (toilet paper, water, candles, birth control, bread, little propane bottles, matches, and anything else that we need or think that we might need) and then we waited, waited, waited and waited..... When I finally went to bed at 10 it was just starting. We were stick in a little keyhole area and didn't get anything when we should have. I tweeted and read blogs to know what was going on in Tulsa with Tasha and in southern Oklahoma with Elizabeth and then tweeted with Kristen who has known me forever. I heard the first two talking about what they were getting and Kristen talking about what her sister was getting but still sat just waiting.... so at 10 last night it started!!!

This morning there was a little bit of sleet that was sticking and then it started snowing and it hasn't stopped snowing since! It is so beautiful but people aren't realizing that it is a wet snow and are sliding all over. Luckily I am inside and able to watch all the crazy people out driving but we will be out in them before long. Thankfully I am not the one who will be driving, I have little patience. I will work tomorrow and then bundle up and get ready to stay inside doing homework and just spending some time at home. As long as we doing lose power I will be fine. I really would like to have the TV on and be able to be on the Internet. But it we do lose power I will gas up the generator and make the hard decision - TV or Internet.... I am sure the TV and the dvr will win!

Writer's Workshop

Mama Kat is having another Writer's Workshop this week and I am hurrying to squeeze it in. Here are the prompts.....

The Prompts:
1.) I recently read all about the importance of us bloggers developing an “Elevator Pitch” via one of my new favorite blogs. According Wikipedia and Elevator Pitch is “an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words).” Create one short (a sentence long) and one longer (100 – 150 words) Elevator Pitch describing what your blog is about.(inspired by Darren from Problogger)

2.) The strangest dream ever…(inspired by Amo from Where A Woman Shakes Her Tablecloth.)

3.) Write a list of 10 things that can be done to stave off boredom.(inspired by Lourie from CA Girl).

4.) “How many homes have you had? Write a journal entry about ALL the places you’ve called ‘home’ in your life.”(inspired by writingfix.com).

5.) “Why wouldn’t they just start over? Write a story where a character refuses to go back to square one.”(inpired by writingfix.com).

Which one will YOU choose??
************

I choose to write a list of 10 things that can be done to stave off boredom.(inspired by Lourie from CA Girl).
These are the ten things that I do to stave off boredom....

1. Get up and take care of the two girls.

2. Get around and get ready to my full-time job that I do during the day.

3. Leave work at 5 and change into more comfortable clothes.

4. Go to my part-time job in the evenings and work with the kids.

5. If I don't go to the part-time job, I drive an hour and a half to go to school.

6. Sit in class for 3 hours and LEARN!!!

7. Drive an hour and a half home.

8. If I am not going to part-time job (see #4) or going to school (see #5, #6 & #7) I am doing home work for the 13 hours of classes that I am taking.

9. If I am not doing #4, #5, #6, #7 or #8 I am looking and reading through my friends blogs.

10. Then if I am not working my full-time job, working at my part-time job, going to school, or doing homework, or looking at blogs I am SLEEPING!!! But that doesn't happen very much.

So I will stop at the ten but I promise I could continue going on and on and on. I didn't list all of the other stuff that I do like hunting.... or fishing..... or all those other redneck things that we do in this neck of the country. I haven't even touched on my cross stitch, embroidery, quilting and all the other *girly* stuff that I enjoy....

Have you ever heard the words, BORED come out of my mouth???? I have no time to be bored. But if any of you are bored I would love to have some pointers on how to spend my few minutes a day that I waste... Just kidding but seriously, if someone knows how to make more than 24 hours in a day I would appreciate the hint. I never seem to have enough time. But such is life!

Now head over to Mama Kat's and look at what everyone else is talking about!
