Meet My New Friend, Katydid

Meet my friend, Katydid. At 12:30 this morning he woke me up. That is the most gosh darn awful sound that you can ever hear inside the house. We were in a dead sleep and here him rubbing his wings together. In our waking up from a dead sleep stupor we were trying to figure out what the noise was... We have 10 foot high ceilings in our house. We saw this bright green object on the wall, almost to the ceiling. So I said the smartest thing that I could think of in my stupor "Hit him with a towel". I know, I am smart when I am awakened out of a dead sleep. Here is the deal, Mister did it. Then our new friend flew around a little bit, landed on me, I tried to grab him and missed. He ended up on the floor, where Mister was hitting him with the towel again. Then he was gone. So we went back to bed and a couple hours later our friend decided that he wanted to talk again. Mister got up and tried to hit him with the towel again. Then he was gone, again. So we went back to bed and slept peacefully until the alarm went off. I am hoping that our friend will stay outside and not wake us up tonight. He sounds beautiful outside, just not in my house wanting to talk in the early hours of the morning!

My present joy....

Directions: You can learn more about Writer’s Workshop here….it’s never to late to jump in!!

The Prompts:
(all prompts inspired by this months copy of Oprah Magazine.)
1.) “I’m mad at myself. I’m embarrassed. I can’t believe after all these years, I’m still talking about my weight.” Poor Ope. What are you mad at yourself about?
2.) Divorce Dreams…a tempting alternative? A disaster to be avoided? Ever an option? Advice? What’s your take?
3.) What is the joy in your present moment?
4.) List 10 rules you’ve unlearned (meaning 10 things you thought were expected of you or were the “right way” of doing things, but that you now ignore).
5.) Mother’s Day is coming…what is the secret behind the close bond you have with your mom? OR What do you do to create that close bond with your kids?

What is the joy in your present moment?

The joy in my present moment is the fact that it is almost the end of another semester. I have papers that I have to write and they have to pass being assessed. I have passed the five for this semester, I had my exit interview for my first internship and am done with my internship. I have 3 more weeks of school after tonight and am ready for the summer. But my biggest joy at the moment is that I AM DOING IT!!!! I drive an hour and a half to go to college, but it is worth it. I have two semesters left, but it will be worth it. I don't always get to do things that I want, but it will be worth it. I feel overwhelmed at times with the full-time job, the part-time job and what feels like another full-time job with school, but it will be worth it. I get grumpy with my husband who then tells me what for and gets me relaxed again, he also knows it will be worth it. Some my joy right now is just the knowledge that I am getting ready to have a summer off. My true joy is that in another year I will walk across that stage with my husband and his family looking on. And I will know, IT WAS ALL WORTH IT. All the tears, the time on the road, missing things for homework and the sleepless nights will be worth it when I can walk across the stage and know that the next phase of life is starting too. The next phase will be one to help students grow to love English but also help them realize that they are worth it and someone cares for each and every one of them.

7 more classes, 2 more internships, 1 more year, many sleepless nights, many invitations turned down, countless numbers of tears, hundreds of miles on my car and too many fill-ups to count, but in the end I will be able to say
I DID IT ALL ON MY OWN
AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT.

Writer's Workshop

Mama Kat is having another Writer's Workshop this week and I am hurrying to squeeze it in. Here are the prompts.....

The Prompts:
1.) I recently read all about the importance of us bloggers developing an “Elevator Pitch” via one of my new favorite blogs. According Wikipedia and Elevator Pitch is “an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words).” Create one short (a sentence long) and one longer (100 – 150 words) Elevator Pitch describing what your blog is about.(inspired by Darren from Problogger)

2.) The strangest dream ever…(inspired by Amo from Where A Woman Shakes Her Tablecloth.)

3.) Write a list of 10 things that can be done to stave off boredom.(inspired by Lourie from CA Girl).

4.) “How many homes have you had? Write a journal entry about ALL the places you’ve called ‘home’ in your life.”(inspired by writingfix.com).

5.) “Why wouldn’t they just start over? Write a story where a character refuses to go back to square one.”(inpired by writingfix.com).

Which one will YOU choose??
************

I choose to write a list of 10 things that can be done to stave off boredom.(inspired by Lourie from CA Girl).
These are the ten things that I do to stave off boredom....

1. Get up and take care of the two girls.

2. Get around and get ready to my full-time job that I do during the day.

3. Leave work at 5 and change into more comfortable clothes.

4. Go to my part-time job in the evenings and work with the kids.

5. If I don't go to the part-time job, I drive an hour and a half to go to school.

6. Sit in class for 3 hours and LEARN!!!

7. Drive an hour and a half home.

8. If I am not going to part-time job (see #4) or going to school (see #5, #6 & #7) I am doing home work for the 13 hours of classes that I am taking.

9. If I am not doing #4, #5, #6, #7 or #8 I am looking and reading through my friends blogs.

10. Then if I am not working my full-time job, working at my part-time job, going to school, or doing homework, or looking at blogs I am SLEEPING!!! But that doesn't happen very much.

So I will stop at the ten but I promise I could continue going on and on and on. I didn't list all of the other stuff that I do like hunting.... or fishing..... or all those other redneck things that we do in this neck of the country. I haven't even touched on my cross stitch, embroidery, quilting and all the other *girly* stuff that I enjoy....

Have you ever heard the words, BORED come out of my mouth???? I have no time to be bored. But if any of you are bored I would love to have some pointers on how to spend my few minutes a day that I waste... Just kidding but seriously, if someone knows how to make more than 24 hours in a day I would appreciate the hint. I never seem to have enough time. But such is life!

Now head over to Mama Kat's and look at what everyone else is talking about!

Today is THAT day

Today is the first day of the spring semester. It is THAT day. I now have no freedom. I will constantly be busy with school work and all the other stuff that comes along with school. I am taking two late classes so I will still be driving two nights a week. I am also taking two online classes and one weekend class. Grand total of hours this semester = 13!!!! That is along with both jobs. Maybe I have gone absolutely out of my mind....Or maybe I just see my goal. Either way, I am going to be one pooped out chick! I think that I will be getting a very little bit of sleep.

One of my online classes posted stuff yesterday so I got a head start on it. That felt good. Let's see how long it lasts! (Ha ha) The other won't start until the 19th so I have a slight break. Not really though since I am going to class the two nights a week, the high school basketball tournament at the college starts next week and I will also be starting intramural basketball Wednesday..... So the slight break will be appreciated time has come to woman up. Nothing like jumping in with both feet and hitting the ground running!

So if I get to where I am not posting as regularly as I should leave a comment and give me a hard time!!! I will need it and it will be appreciated!

Day after Christmas

This was me the day after Christmas.... This was Lilly the day after Christmas. She is my in-laws dog. I had been outside playing in the snow with L and B and their mom. We had been up late Christmas night, getting home at midnight and then up by 6 the next morning. I was absolutely wore out and was sitting on the couch watching the news. Can't you tell???? I was doing a good job watching the news! :) Lilly loves to cuddle with me when I am over there. In fact, she gets so excited that she can piddle when I walk in!!!! It is a wonderful feeling to have a dog laying on your lap and it makes me take a nap every time! It is just an ongoing joke that if we are watching a movie and I cover up I am gone. I will be asleep within a few minutes. Now that they have the dog it is worse, I don't even need a blanket! This was how I spent the day after Christmas. Although us girls did decide to venture out at 9 pm and go to Walmart. I was fun being able to just take our time. I love Eeyore and they had pants and a cute sleep shirt that I HAD to buy! Hope your Christmas was safe and fun.

Tuesday,,...

Good Morning! I have had a busy last couple of days. I got most everything done on my list this weekend and am gong to try and have the rest done in the next couple of weeks. Although I am working late tonight I may come home and take a nap!

Mema is still the same. They are trying to manage pain right now but it is such a hopeless feeling. Whatever is God's will is going to happen, I just wish that she wasn't in pain.

We were out hunting this weekend and I saw a pretty little doe eating about 60-70 yards away and then saw a buck running full speed. Pretty soon I saw a doe running full speed and the buck right behind her. I had never seen a buck chasing before so it was a neat sight to see.

Hopefully I can get christmas lights on the outside of the house tomorrow......

Goals update.... Mema update....

Matt's great grandmother was put into the hospital yesterday and we spent the evening up there with her. I am hurting so much for her because she is hurting. She is in such pain and just doesn't know what is going on much. They have her on morphine but she is still saying she is huring, which is totally unlike her. She is one tough old bird. She is 94 years old and have lived a long life. I know that God has plans, I just wish she wouldn't have to suffer like this.

UPDATE: Finished #4 about 9 pm....

Some 10 or 11 week grumblings and ramblings....

I have about 6 weeks left of school ( hence the title) and it is hitting me hard. I am taking 11 hours this semester. That is on top of working full time at the day job, part time (around 10-15 hrs) at the night job and driving two nights a week to class. It takes me about an hour and a half to get to class and the same to get home. I have one night that I get home about midnight. I know that everyone else seems to be loving the time change but I am not digging it. I should be getting out of class at 10 but my body is telling me that it is 11..... Which makes it feel like 1 when I am getting home. And I forgot to figure in my time for homework, like the two week unit of lesson plans, complete with quizzes and tests.....

I did get enrolled for the next semester and will be taking 13 hours. I only have 3 more semesters left but it is all draggggggging on right now. I always get this way towards the end of the semester but this year it is seeming worse. Maybe getting older has something to do with it????

I am taking a weekend class and am excited about it but would love this weekend to do homework and crash. The rest would do me good but......

My school goals for this weekend (Friday to Sunday) are
1. weekend class (Friday and Saturday)
2. two week thematic unit
3. class observation paper from a spanish class.
4. read 100 pages for Monday nights class
5. create study guide for class discussion Monday
6. read 50 pages for Tuesday online class
7. post answers for Tuesday online class
8. book review of a spanish text book.

Items 2-8 will have to be done Saturday night or Sunday since I will be in ANOTHER class on Friday and Saturday.

This is making me really tired to think about all of this, maybe I should take a nap....
I will be thinking of you all enjoying your shows and normal activities while I am stuck in a book! *repeating the mantra* This will all be worth it in the end, this will all be worth it in the end....

Momma told me their would be days.....

this is what I felt like yesterday. I worked the day, got some bad health news, went to school and got home after midnight (stressed about driving on the icy roads), and then couldn't fall asleep until about 2. I was up at 5 Friday morning and was worn out the whole day, The fun thing was we got free tickets to see Joey and Rory and had a blast....
